In the midst of an episode of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which left Jessica Garcia bedridden for a couple of months, she was moved to find other ways to continue in her efforts to be an instrument of healing. Since Jessica is a Reiki Practitioner and Shiatsu therapist, she asked the Universe how she could continue her healing work from home, as she did not want the unpredictability of this illness to interrupt her mission. Thanks to her cousin "Beth Ann" and her Angel “Stella”, who earlier both introduced her to knitting and crocheting, Jessica created scarves and blankets infused with love and Reiki, for herself and for friends while she was recuperating. This passion helped Jessica pass the time and gave her an opportunity to continue in her efforts of giving to others. Still, Jessica continued to look for ways in which she could continue in her mission of being an instrument of healing.

"We are women; Sisters, Mothers, Aunts, Grandmothers, Cousins, Great-Grandmothers, Daughters and Friends. We are all brought together for one purpose: to share our passion for joy and nurturing through the making and donating of handmade blankets. Each blanket is made with thoughts from the heart; love, hope, prayers and some even with Reiki. Each blanket is freely given in order to help a child cope with life that sometimes changes unknowingly. It is our hope that each and every child, and family, is touched by the blankets received from Blankets From The Heart in the same way that we are touched by making them."
