What a feeling, to be able to go through life knowing that you are surrounded by angels always. Angels come in many forms, including as friends. If you have a few moments to sit back and enjoy a movie, we’ve compiled a list of some favorite inspirational movies about angels…and friends. These movies are sure to take you to that “feel good” place. Rent it or you just may want to pick one up to keep on hand when you need a little splash of loving inspiration.
They also make great Valentine’s Day, Mother’s
Day, birthdays, friendship, get well, comfort, or “just because” gifts. These are movies that really speak to the heart and
soul.

It’s A Wonderful Life
A classic from 1947, Clarence, a guardian angel, attempts to help the main character, George Bailey, understand
the positive impact George has had not only on the life of his family but on the town as well. Clarence arrives at a point
in George Bailey’s life when he sees little point in continuing on in life, as life has become too unbearable and suicide seems to
be the only option. Traditionally this movie is known to be a Christmas classic but anytime is the right time for “It’s A Wonderful
Life”.
City of Angels
Going about his business of watching over the citizens of Los Angeles, an angel by the name of Seth crosses paths with
Maggie, a beautiful heart surgeon. Suddenly he finds himself in a difficult situation as he attempts to fulfill his angelic
obligations while at the same time dealing with a growing desire to live a life as a human so that he can be with the one he
loves.
For Heaven’s Sake
Sarah, a grandmother with a zest for life and one who lives life with a passion, is anxiously preparing for her granddaughter’s 11th birthday. As Sarah and her granddaughter Katie are busy making plans, Sarah suffers a fatal heart attack and begins her journey to heaven. As Sarah is on this celestial roller coaster, her granddaughter is having a difficult time dealing with her grandmother’s death. On her 11th birthday, Katie collapses and is rushed to the hospital, wanting nothing more to do with life so that she can be with her grandmother. After much convincing, Sarah is permitted to appear to Katie to help her understand that she needs to continue on this beautiful journey called life.
Michael
When tabloid reporters come across information about an angel living in a rural town in Iowa, they receive orders to go investigate
this information further. There they encounter a not-so-typical angel named Michael. Follow along as the reporters go
from extreme skepticism to growing to love and respect this angel. Before Michael heads back to heaven he has one last good
deed to perform and these skeptical reporters will be the ones to help him carry this out. This is a “feel-good” movie, one
you are sure to enjoy.
Wings of Desire
Damiel is an angel who is the caretaker of the citizens of Berlin. He moves through the city, listening to the
fears, thoughts, hopes, dreams of those under his care, offering assistance and protection. Going about his angelic duties,
he finds himself in a situation where he falls in love with a beautiful trapeze artist. He begins to consider giving up his
immortality and becoming human in order to be with her. Does the story line sound familiar? City of Angels is actually
a remake of this great classic.
The Preacher’s Wife
This is another movie that seems to be more popular during the Christmas season but anytime is the right time for
movie about angels, right? Follow along as an angel helps a preacher and his wife take on the task of building up a parish that
is in the midst of chaos. The angel moves in with them in order to oversee the job but in the process begins falling in love
with the preacher’s wife. A beautiful movie with magnificent music.
The Bishop’s Wife
Bishop Henry Brougham is totally absorbed in his attempt to help build a new cathedral. His prayers for help
are answered by an angel, Dudley, who is sent to offer assistance. In the process of helping Bishop Henry, Dudley finds his
himself also focusing attention on the bishop’s wife who has been neglected while the bishop has pursued the cathedral project. The Preacher’s Wife is actually a remake of this classic movie.
Here Comes Mr. Jordan
A boxer, poised to be the next heavy weight champion, accidently has his life taken from him in a plane crash,
fifty years too soon. Mr. Jordan, a celestial messenger, is called upon to straight this matter out. Follow along on the
adventure as Mr. Jordan attempts to correct this error and all of the unraveling that is required to make this happen. This
movie was an Oscar winner for Best Original Story in 1941 and includes an all star cast. Beautiful movie!
Always
Pete is a risk-taking aerial firefighter and much to the dismay of the love of his live, Dorinda, he enjoys taking chances in his line of work. Dorinda finally gives him an ultimatum; bring it down a notch, take on a job as a flight instructor or lose Dorinda forever. He decides to make a career move but unfortunately it’s too late. He loses his life when his aircraft explodes. Once in heaven, his guardian angel meets with him and informs him that he is to return to earth in spirit for a final mission. Returning to earth, Pete is forced to face situations which make it difficult for him to let go of the life he once had.
